She received her educational training at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), as well as her clinical training at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she worked on both the postpartum and NICU floors. She also volunteered and worked closely with pediatricians at Venice Family Clinic, a non-profit working to provide affordable healthcare for those in need, especially women and children.
Prior to finding her passion for helping mothers, babies and families, Johanna worked in curatorial, research and development projects with non-profit organizations such as the Guggenheim Museum, the Aga Khan Foundation and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. She received her Masters of Architecture from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and her B.A. in Architecture and Art History from the University of Pennsylvania.
While she currently calls Belgium home, Johanna has lived in Kenya, Ethiopia, Malawi, Pakistan, Belgium and the West and East Coasts of the US. She is fluent in English, Spanish and Dutch. A mother of two, Johanna struggled with breastfeeding when her daughter was born, both during the early weeks and then transitioning back to work. She first found incredible lactation support in Los Angeles that helped her through, and is now proud to have also found her passion to join the global community of those helping other mothers.
